I’m unique. I don’t like to do the same things as other people.

If someone tells me to go left, I will go right without hesitation.

But I am not ashamed of being different. In fact, I’m proud of it.

I think the reason I came to think this way is because of my father.

My father is unique, too.

In fact, he is more unique than I am. Here are two episodes.

When I was little, my family moved from Tokyo to Gunma.

My family moved from Tokyo to Gunma when I was little, because my father wanted to move there.

At the time, my father was a stringer for a professional tennis player.

It was a job to string gut.

My family, of course, was against it. My family was against it, of course, because the life there was stable.

There were convenience stores, bookstores, karaoke bars, restaurants.

It was very convenient, but my father didn’t like it. He said, “I want to have more hardships.

He quit his job as a stringer and became a carpenter.

When he gained the knowledge to build a house, he moved to Gunma and built a house.

In the end, my family threw away our life in Tokyo and moved to Gunma.

There is one thing that my father loves.

It’s pranks. This time, I would like to introduce a prank that particularly freaked me out.

One day, the mayor of my village came to my house.

He was dressed in an expensive suit and rode in an expensive car. I was a little nervous.

My father, on the other hand, felt like playing a prank.

As soon as he approached the car, he attached a rope and an empty can to the back of the car and snuck it under the car.

When the car ran, it would look like a wedding car.

I also approached the shoes he had taken off and replaced them with ski boots.

I was terrified.

Once again, the person being pranked was the village mayor.

If this were not Japan, my father would have been killed.

However, my father was not scared at all, and he looked very satisfied.

As you can probably tell by now, my father was considered to be quite a freak by the people around him.

But he never seemed to be embarrassed and seemed to enjoy every day.

One day, I asked my father, “What do you think?

“One day, I asked my father, “Aren’t you ashamed to do something different from others?

“He said, “Aren’t you ashamed that you don’t follow your own path, that you conform to those around you?

I could not say anything.

In that moment, I saw my father change from an embarrassing person to a cool person.

He believed in his own path and lived his life the way he wanted to live it.

You only live once.

We don’t even know when we will die. If that’s the case, I think it’s important to always live a satisfying life.

Being unique is something that everyone hates, but not everyone is the same.

It is natural that there are many things that are different from what everyone else thinks.

But because of embarrassment, everyone agrees with everyone else.

That’s not the path you want to take, is it?

I think that’s more embarrassing.

I am unique.

But I’m not ashamed of it. I’m just following the path I want to follow.

I just want to be cool like my father.
